     He The Book "700 Jahre Raumbach" states what I have translated as: The name Soffel appears in the Meisenheim sources for the first time around 1620. All the Soffel families in Raumbach trace back to Johannes, who married Anna Katharina Geib.The marriage record indicated that Johannes was the son of Johann Peter Soffel of Staudersheim. The marriage of Maria Catharina Soffel to Johann Peter Germann (Meisenheim: 8 Jan 1715) names her father as Johannes Soffel, who was deseased at that time.
