Barbara Weinig's LDS Familysearch Family Tree ID is: L8PF-RF3. Church records in Westheim (bei Hußfurt) in northern Bavaria show that Barbara was born on 26 Jan 1851. This is important since her age as stated on various documents here in the U.S. makes it hard to determine her date of birth.
These same church records indicate that Barbara gave birth to her daughter, Elisa Dorothea (known as Elizabeth) on 26 Mar 1876, but no record is given of Elisa's father and there is no marriage record for Barbara, so the birth is considered to be, and probably was, illegitimate.
As of this writing, it is not known when Barbara and daughter immigrated to the U.S., but Barbara's death record indicates that she was in this country for 26 years at the time of her death (in 1910), making 1884 a possibility.
She was married to Charles Fröhlich in 1887. Barbara and Charles were both living at 119 Broadway, Brooklyn, at the time of their marriage. According to the 1892 Brooklyn census, they had one male child, named Louisa [sic]. Their address was 228 Graham Ave., Brooklyn. Barbara's brother George and his wife Martha were also living at this address.
Information on her death record indicates that Barbara died on 6 May 1910 of "acute cardiac dilatation following chronic asthma". Elisabeth Weinig was born on 26 March 1876 at Westheim (Haßfurt), Bavaria, Germany; Birth was recorded in the Evang.-Luth. Church Registry at Westheim; No. 3, Date : 26 March 1876; Child's Name: Dorothea Elisa Weinich ; Father: Unknown; Mother: Barbara Weinich.
Birth was also recorded in the Westheim Civil Registry; No. 6; 26 March 1876; Child's Name: Elisabetha Barbara Weinig; Mother; Barbara Weinig (single). She married Johann Venter, son of Johannes Venter and Catharina Cöster, on 18 October 1914 at Palisades Township, Bergen Co., New Jersey; Marriage was recorded in the State of New Jersey Marriage records; Date: 18 Oct 1914 in Peetzburg, New Jersey; Husband: John Venter, age: 42 (Father: John Venter, Mother: Catherina Cöster); Wife: Elizabeth Weinig, age: 38 (Father: Karl Froehlich [sic], Mother: Barbara Weinig).
John Venter, age 42, living in Peetzburg, New Jersey (Peetzburg was an unincorporated section of Palisades Township, located in what was to become the northern section of the town of New Milford.), married Elizabeth Weinig, age 38, living at 134 E. 61 Street, New York City. Elisabeth Weinig died on 9 April 1949 at Hackensack Hospital, Hackensack, Bergen Co., New Jersey, at age 73; Death was recorded in the State of New Jersey Death Records; No. 12143, Date: 9 Apr 1949 in Hackensack, New Jersey; Name: Elizabeth Venter, age: 73, Born: 26 mar 1876; Father: Weinig [sic]; Mother: Unknown [sic].
She was buried on 12 April 1949 at George Washington Memorial Cemetery, Paramus, Bergen Co., New Jersey; Elisabeth was buried in the George Washington Memorial Cemetery, Paramus, New Jersey.
Elisabeth Weinig's LDS Familysearch Family Tree ID is: L8FB-B67. At her birth, Elisabeth's name was recorded as "Dorothea Elisa Weinich" according to H. Pohl, Pastor of the Lutheran Church in Westheim. This record identifies her as the illegitimate child of Barbara Weinich, born on the 26 Mar 1876.
The identifying of Westheim as Elisabeth's place of birth and all the information that was subsequently forthcoming, was the result of information obtained from the ships register of non-immigrant aliens in which Elisabeth's return to the US following a visit back to Germany was recorded.
The ship was the S.S. George Washington, sailing from Bremen to New York and arriving on 24 Aug 1912. This register also indicated that she still had a cousin, Andreas Hein living in Westheim. She also states that she first immigrated in 1895, a date which seems to be in doubt (see below).
Records at Westheim indicate an Andreas Hein being born on 3 Nov. 1885, the son of Andreas Hein, a cigar maker, and Christina Reulein Hein. However, the connection to the Weinig family, or which Andreas as the cousin, has not been established.
There seems to be no indication as to who Elisabeth's father may be.
Prior to her marriage, Elisabeth worked as a cook for the Jacob Tischner family at 134 East 61 St., New York. She was there for the 1910 census.
In addition to the ships record mentioned above, in both the 1910 and the 1920 census, Elizabeth claims to have immigrated to the U.S. in 1895. This does not agree with what the family believed, which was that she immigrated with her mother when she was a little girl; she would have been 19 years old in 1895. Her mother married Karl Froehlich in New York City in 1887, a fact which tends to confuse the matter. However, records of Elisabeth's Confirmation in the Westheim Church in 1889 would support the idea that she did not immigrate with her mother, but came to the US at a later date.

Both the 1920 and 1930 census indicates that Elisabeth was a naturalized citizen. However, I have search extensively for her naturalization records and have found nothing. Subsequently, I have learned that prior to women getting the right to vote in 1920, a wife was granted citizenship at the same time her husband became a naturalized citizen. This would explain why no papers for her were ever found. She appeared on the census of 15 January 1920 in the household of Johann Venter at Center Street, Palisades Township, Bergen Co., New Jersey. Information was supplied by Rev. Pohl of Westheim Evang.-Luth. Church in a letter dated 3 Jun 1988. Georg Andreas Weinig died circa 17 November 1822 at Westheim (Haßfurt), Bavaria, Germany; A note in the margin of Georg Andreas' birth record indicates that he died on 17 Nov 1822.
There were two dates in my notes for the birth of Georg Andreas Weinig. The date of 17 Mar 1773 was supplied to me by Pfarrar Pohl in the first data set that he sent me in June of 1988. In my own notes, I recorded the date of 17 Mar 1783. This was on my research trip to Westheim in 1990 (see page 35 in my notebook). The year 1783 falls in line with the other dates I recorded at the same time, which makes it seem reasonable. The difficulty with the 1783 date is that it makes Andreas 18 years old at the time of his wedding to Anna Maria Hauck in 1801. However, the fact that their son was born two months later may explain why he was so young when he married. I am assuming that Pfarrar Pohl made a transcription error when he noted the 1773 date. Georg Andreas Weinig's LDS Familysearch Family Tree ID is: L6HM-XV4.

Johann Nicolaus Weinig married Anna Veronica Heyhl on 16 February 1772 at Westheim (Haßfurt), Bavaria, Germany; Marriage was recorded in the Westheim (Hassfurt) Marraige Register; 16 Feb 1772. Information was supplied by Rev. Pohl of Westheim Evang.-Luth. Church in a letter dated 3 Jun 1988. Note: All of the following discussion can be explained once it is realized tha Johann Nicolas Weinig had a son, also named Johann Nicolas, and it was this son that married Anna Hauck.
Information from Pfarrar Pohl indicates that Johann's first wife died in either 1766 or 1776. Since he remarried in April of 1766, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and calling it 1766 until I can get clarification on it. Also, Johann's daughter, Margareta Barbara, by Anna Hauck was born 19 Mar 1766 (two weeks before his marriage to Anna).
Church records concerning Johann Nicolaus are very confused. They indicate that he died on 27 May 1779, that he married his third wife, as a widower, on 16 Feb 1772, but that his last six children, starting with Georg Andreas (b: 17 May 1773) through Maria Katharina (b: 4 Feb 1786), were all his children by his second wife, Anna Margareta Hauck. As none of this makes sense, I'm listing these last six children as his by Anna Veronica and assuming he lived long enough to father them all. But it is noted that all of this is open to question.
These records also indicate that Johann Nicolaus was the village mayor (Schultheiß).
