| Note* | | Charles is known in various places as Charles, Carl and Karl, which is one reason why it was hard to pin down his identity. His birth date is uncertain, but if the various reported dates are used, it seems that he must have been born between 23 Jan 1864 and 16 Feb 1864. This is based on his age at death (32 years) and his age at the time of the 1892 Brooklyn census (28 years). Of course, this is ignoring his reported age on his marriage certificate (25 years), which would put his birth in 1862.
Charles' marriage record states that he was born in Schweinfurt, which is a good sized town on the Main River in Northern Bavaria.
At the time of the 1892 Brooklyn census Charles and his family were living at 228 Graham Ave. Barbara's brother George and his wife Martha were also living at this address.
At the time of his death, Charles was living at 156 Graham Ave., Brooklyn. His death certificate indicates that he died of empyema and asthenia. He is buried with his wife, Barbara, in Lutheran Cemetery, in Queens, N.Y. (See Public Lot #2, Mat #5, Row #52, Grave #21).
His occupations have been listed as Baker (marriage cert.), Copper Maker (son, Eward's birth cert. [See George Froelich]), and Mechanic (death cert.).

| Note* | | George Froehlich's birth date is reported to be 13 July 1892 in several sources. A birth record on that date was recorded for an "Eward" Frölich. It does list Barbara Weinig and Karl Frölich as the parents, so it is believed to be the right one.
In a note from George's daughter, Barbara, in a Christmas card for 2001, she reported finding the following in an old note book:
"Baptism: St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Brooklyn, NY "George John", child of Mr. Carl Froelich and his wife Barbara nee Weinig; born: July 13, 1892; Baptized Nov. 13, 1892; Sponsors: John G. Weinig & Martha Weinig; Pastor: A. H. Beyer"
Another interesting fact is that his birth record indicates that he is Barbara's fourth child, something nobody was aware of. It also shows his parents address to be 228 Graham Ave. and his father's occupation is a "copper maker".
George enlisted in the army on 21 May 1912. George Weinig (his uncle) signed as his legal guardian. He listed his occupation as an Electrician and his address as 258 West 154 St., NYC. He was discharged on 21 May 1915.
